I have been on a skirt making binge since summer, and I recently decided I’ve gotten good enough at these to start giving them as gifts. I made this set for a sweet little birthday girl from Taite’s preschool class. Her favorite colors are pink and purple – not a color combo I do very often, but kind of fun for a change.
I’ve
been meaning to photograph some of the ones I’ve made for Taite. I’ll work on
that this week, pending cooperation from my model.
Honestly,
I’ve surprised myself with this whole sewing thing. It's something I've always wished I could do, so about 5 months ago I just decided to buy a machine and do it already. Seriously, what was I waiting for? Life's too short to waste time wishing I knew how to do something, right?
I’m glad I got the
hang of it, even if I’m a bit of a one trick pony right now, because it gives
me an excuse to buy cute fabrics…which, as far as I’m concerned, is the whole
point of sewing. It’s just one more way to get to play with combining patterns
and colors. When I’m having one of those nights where my brain is too fried to
string a sentence together on a scrapbook page, sewing is something I can zone
out and do in automaton mode, and still get my creative fix.
