The other day on Twitter, I was chatting with my friend Barb about a favorite toy from my 70s childhood, the Lemon Twist.
Anyone remember this? I spent hours jumping over that plastic lemon in my driveway!
Between that hop, skip, and jump down memory lane, and my kids drafting their holiday wish lists, I started thinking about the toys that defined my elementary school years. There is definitely a potential scrapbook project here!
Here are just a few that sparked fond memories.
This Noah's Ark set was part of an Arco gas station promotion. I think we bought the ark with Noah and his wife, and then every time my dad filled the tank of his powder blue Lincoln Continental, he got a new pair of animals.
I'm not sure why the Wheel-o was so much fun...it just was.
Topping Taite's holiday wish list this year is the Barbie Dream House...
...mine looked more like this.
Since my sister is several years younger than me, I also remember playing with some of her 80s toys like Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, and My Little Pony, all of which have made a comeback recently on toy store shelves (and in Taite's playroom).
