I am a procrastinator. I would have told you that sooner, but…
Anyhow, my biggest reason for procrastinating is not knowing where to start, which is why I fell in love with one of Stacy Julian’s bonus projects in her Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking last spring.
It was a “start here” jar with popsicle sticks that have different prompts written on them, for when you feel overwhelmed with the options. I seriously have been using mine ALL the time, and I am finally getting around to sharing it here. Because…well, you know.
My version is made out of a Provo Craft band aid tin rather than a jar, and because I’m me, I had to ape the BandAid theme. My sticks have the prompts Stacy recommended to go along with the LOM system, but they could really be anything at all that inspires you – broad stuff like scrap a photo of a place, or more specific cues for particular pages you’ve been wanting to work on. You could even use some non-creating prompts, like upload some photos or purge your patterned paper collection. And they don’t have to be on popsicle sticks. You can use slips of paper, or whatever you have handy.
I feel like I am really able to maximize my (very little) free time by grabbing a stick and following the prompt, instead of spinning my wheels until my time has run out. Even if I only have 15 minutes, I can still accomplish photo and product selections and have everything ready to go the next time I sit down to scrap.
And best of all? It was a really quick & easy project! So go make yourself some prompts in a cute container instead of making excuses. And then share a page that was motivated by it.
